Hi, it’s Debra again!
I shared some ideas for using a book related to Christmas a while back – In case you missed it you can view it here:
You probably know by now that I make two new public domain books available to you each Friday. Well, don’t just look at each week’s books but periodically scroll back through the list.
Something may jump out and catch your eye later that you hadn’t noticed before. Or it may be a better time now for you than when you first saw that particular topic.
This time I have some ideas from a book that is AWESOME! We’re getting close to the New Year and, we all know that means the normal assessment of our past year and setting of those dreadful new goals.
‘Being more successful’, personally and professionally, is one of the top 2 resolutions. (Pssst – the other is losing weight) We always want to improve ourselves, to do better, to be a better person, and we want to be successful enough to help our family and friends. It’s just human nature. That’s exactly why it’s the perfect time for this book!
The book is (drumroll please )‘ The Three Keys To Success’. It was published in 1954/1956 and has a pretty long introduction by Joseph P. Kennedy. (Recognize that name?) The introduction is unusually long but very interesting and easy reading. When we finish, we know why we should listen to this author’s ideas on SUCCESS!
His own life history clearly shows that his success techniques are ground-breaking! His phenomenal success began as a young 21 year old that basically revolutionized bank financing. He went on to tackle and win in politics in England, even as an outsider. His ideas, influence and ingenuity also played a key roll in winning World War II for the allies. Basically everything Lord Beaverbrook touched turned to gold! That’s why the ideas and concepts in his book are so powerful!
Oh my gosh, you can do SO MUCH WITH THIS BOOK!
To begin with – Quotes, Inspiration, Motivation, Coaching, Success Building – these are all SUPER HOT TOPICS now! I’m sure at least most of you have already watched The Secret or at least heard of it. In case you’ve been vacationing on the moon or had your head buried in the sand – it’s a powerful success-themed movie!
There are also Mind Movies out there to watch in case you can’t come up with your own motivation and positive encouragement. Motivational coaching is very big now – both in the personal and professional arenas. It seems people across the world are absolutely craving – well, ‘tidbits of goodness’.
After all, there’s so much sadness and tragedy in the world, we must seek out positive energy sources to counteract what we hear from the TV, online news reports, newspapers and radio.
Well let me just tell you what’s hidden in this little gem. Well, it’s not so little actually – it’s a full 126 pages so that’s a pretty hefty book!
Hidden in the regular text, you’ll find wonderful quotes that you can use in myriad of ways –
- put them on coffee cups,
- frame them for motivational use,
- market them locally or online to businesses,
- sell them on eBay,
- make a line of greeting cards with inspiring or motivational quotes.
Nowadays you’ll even find Quotes on jewelry!!! Can you believe that? That’s why it sells – because people are hungry for motivation and, more importantly, know the power of motivation!
You can make beautiful book-markers by printing motivation quotes on fancy scrapbook paper and then laminating them. Your cost? Maybe 25 cents! CHEAP! But you could easily sell them at events for $1! How’s that for a profit – 300%! I’ll take that return any day of the week and walk it straight to the bank! These little $1 gifts make perfect
- stocking stuffers,
- office gifts when given with a book or tucked in goody basket,
- include one with each of your Christmas gifts, or
- sell them online in batches of 25 or 50.
That’s perfect for business owners to share with employees.
That’s not all -
- market them to churches to present to their graduating students or even their entire church membership.
- put quotes on desk accessories or
- even have your local printer produce note pads for you with a Quote on the top of each note page. Don’t try to do this yourself – this is far easier and cheaper just to order them.
You can design daily journals with quotes in the top corner of each daily page.
Let’s not forget the power of Twitter and Facebook! You can easily increase your following by regularly posting a quote on Facebook or Twitter. Plus quotes are regularly reposted or retweeted so you reach new contacts you haven’t met before.
Gosh, I could go on and on forever on this topic, but I’ll spare you and jump right to some examples. Here are just a few to wet your appetite –
“In the affairs of the world, Judgment is the supreme quality.”
“Genius goes to the heart of the matter like an arrow from a bow.”
“Judgment is the quality that learns what the world has to teach and then goes the world one better.”
“Judgment is the power to assimilate knowledge and the power to use it.”
And these are JUST FROM ONE PARAGRAPH!
Can you imagine the diamonds hiding in this little ‘126 page’ treasure?
OK, let’s keep going – there’s even more . . .
There are 14 chapters in the book, and I counted 11 of the 14 are perfect to create individual single reports. Sell them, provide them for free motivational builders when packaged with something else, or to use as free gifts for your opt-in box.
Record them (right from your computer using the free Audacity program) and make them available as audio products!
By now, it should go without saying that I highly recommend tweaking the title and adding your own little snippets throughout the book to enrich it even more and make it your own! Then slap your name on it and USE IT – USE IT – USE IT!
Here is a little sampling of these 11 chapter topics -
- How to Conquer Fear
- The Importance of Your First $5,000
- How To Improvise
- Don’t Have a Card-Index Mind
- Don’t Trust To Luck!
- How To Save
- How To Sell
- Learn to Speak In Public
- The Road To Happiness
- Never Resign!
Whew – so many great ideas!
OK folks, I hope that helps you get some ideas of your own or take my ideas and run with ‘em!
Remember, anytime you need help, I’m here for ‘ya!

Hi Debra,
I’ve been fascinated by your site and public domain and I love your open and honest blogging. This post is fabulous — and really struck a note with me. I’ve been having burnout as well — my online efforts involve writing web content but it is time-intensive.
So getting ready for 2012, I’m adding on a little coaching and training because this is what I used to do. But I digress. I just wanted to send you a virtual hug for this post. It is a two-fold delight — I don’t feel so alone being burned out and I see many possibilities in using your public domain books.
Thanks,
Joanne
Thank you Debra. All the best for the New Year. New beginnings are always exciting. Hope you get over that cold and enjoy some well earned rest over your break.
Best regards,
Lucy
Thank you Debra!
Because I’m in the development stages of building a new blog themed around the workings of success, your timing for the information in this post couldn’t have been more perfect for me.
I’m just now adding content and this book will be invaluable for me.
Wishing you a healthy & very successful 2012, and beyond!
Thank you so much,
Ed

Thanks for ”The Three Keys To Success.”
I have just bought it and plan to use it on my website.
Any tips on how I can use it on my website?

Hi Debra. Burnout seems to have been big for people in 2011. I’m glad you’re ready for a great 2011 (sorry) 2012. lol. I happen to have the Mind Movies program run by a couple of Aussies and have just reconnected with them more because I’m wanting to live a better life in 2012.
I have a feeling it is going to be a rockin’ year for so many. You included. I am ready to kick 2011 into oblivion. It was NOT a good year on so many levels. Happy New Year to you. It is tomorrow night for me. You have to wait and catch up to those of us at the bottom of the world.
Thanks for this post. Good info enclosed as always. xxxx

Christine… I know that 2011 can go down in flames for you and not be missed. Grab you kid and hold her tight and show her that “Mom Rocks” and life challenges are just that… challenges.
Joel… My biggest tip for “re-purposed” public domain content: Don’t use it “as is” – Make it your own.
Edward… Law’s of Success is a powerful topic. Make sure you put “your personality” into your blog and it should be fantastic!
Thank You Lucy! I’m back from my mini vacation and ready to Rock your socks off!
Joanne – Virtual Hug Back to You! I’m ready for 2012 – Let’s make it rock by working smarter – not harder.
