Using Halloween Public Domain Content On Micro Niche Blogs

The big Holiday Season is coming… as it does every year. And every year I have missed out on an increase in income because I didn’t have any holiday websites or blogs.  This is the year I am trying to right that wrong.

The problem has always been directly related to Public Domain content.  The only Public Domain content I could find that was related to Halloween or Christmas was usually something that I thought wasn’t going to help me create blogs that would actually make sales.

While searching for Public Domain content, the stuff I was finding was usually stories or  how-to articles in magazines. While these are nice and often fun to read… they are difficult to “reword” so they relate to actual modern-day products.

For instance… I’m creating a product related blog for Halloween costumes.  I know that I’m not going to find Public Domain content that is going to be useful on a Buzz Lightyear Costume website.  The easy to use content isn’t even going to be “close” to related simply because the Buzz Lightyear character hasn’t been around long enough to be in the Public Domain.

I finally got an idea that might work out really well…

I’ve been concentrating my keyword research on popular movie characters that kids will want to emulate.  I know this is a good idea… but not “evergreen”.  I forgot one of my own rules…

One of Debra’s Rules – Try to create micro niche blogs that will be a popular topic year after year.

The plan has changed a bit… now I will be concentrating on costume ideas that are evergreen.

I remember when I was small (a long, long time ago)… I was a variety of characters for HalloweenHula Dancer, Princess, Cowgirl and Witch costumes come to mind.   Wouldn’t these still be popular ideas for kids today and next year and 5 years from now?

So…  for instance: I could create a micro-niche blog about Peanut Costumes and use Peanut Party Public Domain material to fill some of the content.

For this entertainment several bushels of freshly baked peanuts are needed. Provide some bags made of net. large enough to hold a pint of peanuts shelled and hulled. Sew the edges of the bags over and over with colored wools, putting In a string to draw them up. Place In a pretty basket and have a peanut woman dressed in costume to peddle the wares. If she can be provided with a sou larger than herself to assist her and call them out, so much the merrier. There should be a table furnished with homemade peanut candy, both molasses and sugar, salted peanuts, cream peanuts and taffy, made of chopped peanuts.

For a fancy table there may be peanut families made by marking faces on peanuts and dressing them; peanut China-men are made of several peanuts sewed together to form head, body, arms and legs. The face should be drawn with slanting eyes, and a queue of braided black yarn fastened to the crown of his head. He should have loose yellow trousers and a loose black jacket. There may be peanut owls on twigs, peanut cradles with tiny cotton babies in them and peanut animals, using toothpicks for legs. Peanut ice-cream may be made by following a rule for chocolate cream, and adding chopped peanuts. Peanut cake can also be made, using a recipe for nut cake and adding peanuts instead of walnuts. To amuse the guests, mark fifty peanuts with across In black ink, lay them about In plain sight, and at some time during the evening hold a ” peanut hunt,” giving a prize to the one who finds the most peanuts in a given time. This prize may be peanut jewelry arranged on a card and gilded, or a peanut necklace or bracelets, also gilded.

A peanut program may be prepared by cutting pieces of card In the shape of peanuts, large of course, and writing upon them the literary program for the evening. The origin of peanuts, manner and places of their growth can be talked about entertainingly, and original stories read. The well known college song, “The Peanut Man,” must not be omitted. At the end a peanut auction may be held, using peanuts instead of beans. If possible, when a ” Peanut Sociable” is announced, the details should be kept secret, as It heightens the Interest very much. Very many new ideas will come to one in course of Its preparation, and if money be the object, a neat little sum can be secured In an evening.

Adding the keywords (whatever I found that works for Peanut Costumes)  to this content in several places will help your blog get higher search engine ranking.

You don’t need a ton of content for micro-niche blogs… 3 tightly focused articles are enough to get started.  Add in a few articles that focus on peanut costumes from Amazon… add images and links… and you are good to go.
