Wikipedia is filled with information about the Hawaiians and their fight for sovereignty from the United States:
“For many Native Hawaiians, the manner in which Hawaii became a U.S. possession has been a bitter part of its history. Immediately after 1898, Native Hawaiians created the Home Rule Party of Hawaii and had adopted statehood as a path towards more self-government since Hawaii governors and judges were direct political appointees of the US president.
After years of cultural and societal repression and with the self-determination movements worldwide, the 1960s saw the rebirth of Hawaiian culture and identity. It also saw the rebirth of Hawaiian nationalism and the quest for some form of Hawaiian nationhood.”
The information now available from these few books could be the content of an entire website devoted to the history of the Hawaiian islands and her people.
Add in a few affiliate links for Hawaiian history based vacations and produce a Hawaiian history DVD with pictures and your all set!
