Of course we had a “Talk Like A Pirate Day” Blog World Expo 08 tweetup (where Twitter friends meet face to face) in Las Vegas! Friday night at the Tempo Lounge in the Hilton.
It was a great kick off party for the weekend. Warren Whitlock was on the “air” with his TwitCast... I can’t even list all the great people that showed up to this party. And… yes, I got 10 people to put on an eyepatch to win the gift packs I put together (which included a free bar drink) – I was a popular girl that night!
After the tweetup it was time to head to the TECHSET & BLOGWORLD AFTER HOURS PARTY at the Bare Lounge – Mirage Hotel.
All I can say is the weather was perfect for a pool/cocktail party. But it was so crowded and loud that I couldn’t think much less speak… so we left (on the hunt for some fun slots)
I found some great blog world party photos and videos on these sites:

I (Debra) was one of the three lucky winners selected for an invitation to a special dinner with the Market Leverage group on Saturday night. This amazing dinner at the Envy Steakhouse… wasn’t only about the food. I met Jen Fluker from Market Leverage… didn’t get to spend much time talking shop… mostly girl talk.
I sat across from the Unique Blog Designs crew… and they are now working on a new blog re-design for my “life after public domain” blog.
I was surrounded by some really smart “guys”… on my left was Jim Kukral who has to speak pretty softly or he will scare you to death. His voice resonates… plus he’s much taller than I am. Jim told us about a new book he is writing. He is trying to devote most of his time to this new project, so is considering shutting down The Daily Flip. Maybe he should make it The Weekly Flip???
And on my right I met Ryan Hupfer or @Hup on Twitter who must be one of the tallest people I’ve ever met. He was fun and interesting throughout the entire dinner. We fought over the crazy-good side dishes served. The tag line on his business card – “Communicator of Awesomeness”… does that give you a clue? Plus… he works for HubPages… so I grilled him on some “best” practices.
Then we were all off to the Blog World Cocktail Party for a few short minutes. Then…I had another dinner to get to at 9:30 p.m. Yes, I had to fit in more food! This invite came from Kevin Eikenberry... who is just plain amazing. He posted a great article about preparing for conferences – which was helpful for me, but I still need to get a better plan before I hit the road. I hope Kevin and I can work together – he helping me reach my professional potential… and me helping him with a super secret public domain project. hmmmm.
And Warren Whitlock was at this dinner as well… he sat at the other end of the table entertaining some of my “tribe”
Now… I finally made it to Sunday night. The conference is over and a large percentage of attendees have “left Nevada”… But – Dave Taylor put out a tweet on twitter that he wanted to have a Tweetup dinner. So… off I went to what I thought was going to be a pretty low key event. I mean… we were all exhausted weren’t we? Apparently not… Bloggers just keep going like the Energizer Bunny. Big Bonus - I got almost everyone at the event share their websites and some wisdom on this video….
Oh… and Warren Whitlock was at this dinner, but he arrived after I taped this video… Sorry Warren! (Do you think Warren was stalking me or I was stalking him?) Anyway… Warren and my tribe hit it off… he is so entertaining and gracious.

(BTW… it takes a few seconds to start after you click the arrow… it’s a big file!) I am loading it up YouTube as well.
Whoops… I misspelled http://twitter.com/francoisplanque on the video… He told me I would!

Hi Debra!
You know, this video really does bring back fond memories of the whole evening. It was a GREAT way to end the whole event! Blogworld was the best and there’s no better way to close it out than to sit and have a meal with an all-star cast!
