Many of the films have been taken down...not because the original films aren't public domain but because as you know when someone uses a public domain work to create a new work of creativity, that new work gets protected by copyright. Yep, issue #1 of the Public Domain magazine did have links to Youtube – and now the video’s have been removed by the “creator” not YouTube.

I clicked thru to a few of those videos and was very surprised to find a not that said the video had been removed because of copyright violation.
